Black 2 San Francisco

Launched in June 2024 through Mayor London Breed’s Opportunities for All (OFA) initiative, Black 2 San Francisco (B2SF) is a groundbreaking initiative led by the San Francisco Human Rights Commission (HRC). Aiming to establish a formal Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) hub in San Francisco, B2SF seeks to recruit, offer courses, and host students. B2SF fosters a vibrant academic and professional environment through partnership with HBCUs.

GOALS

  • Create an HBCU Satellite Campus

  • Expand Academic Opportunities

  • Enhance Industry Connection

B2SF launched in the summer of 2024 with enter number of Interns here.
For 6 weeks, HBCU and local San Francisco college students worked in collaboration with city departments and community organizations, gaining valuable experience and insight into various industries.

In addition to their internships, B2SF students took trips to:

Alemany Farms, the largest agricultural site in San Francisco, where they learned about farming and growing their own food,

Spark Social, where students sampled cuisine from local food trucks,
and

Yountville, a Black owned winery , where students learned about wine making and running a business.

OFA is proud of the inaugural B2SF class, and looking forward to the future!
